As the area of Warnervale has rapidly expanded to the north of the station, another station around 1.5 km north of Warnervale is planned to serve a new town centre and transport interchange in Woongarrah. The station has been provisionally called North Warnervale. Council plans were put on display in March 2006. In 2010 the state governmet revealed plans to begin construction in 2012 to complete the station by 2016[1]. The existing station is expected to remain.
